Hello Room 17 students!
This week you will need to tell a little about the book Dumpling Days in this blog.  We have enjoyed reading this story together in class.  Students, please tell about your favorite part or ask a question about the book for others to respond to in their post.  Check back to see what your friends are talking about this week!

I love how the author really described the details in the story like..."my mouth is watery with a delicious taste of dumplings." I am hooked and want to hear more of the story to find out what's happening!

I like when Pacy calls the uncle "uncle flower". That is not his real name so it made me laugh really hard!

Ethan

I ilke the name of the book Dumpling Days. It is about how the kids act, they started to like how it was in Taiwan. They like the dumplings there. Can you tell us how the kids acted in the book?

Kieran

Hi Ivy,
The kids in the book act how they are supposed to in Taiwan but sometimes they're shy.

Alexandra

Ivy. The Book was fun because it was when keKe

Ivy I like the book because the kid Kiki said that it was uncle tillie. Then Lizzie said it was uncle flower. Mom said it was uncle lily.

Alec

I like when they went to the restaurant and there were so many food carts and she ate dumplings.

Lauren

My favorite part of the story today was when Ki Ki called Uncle Li-li "Uncle Flower".

In the book Dumpling Days, I liked when Lizzie said that their Uncle was Uncle Flower to her little sisters. Their Mother said their Uncle had a different name. This was silly because Lizzie kept saying that their Uncle was Uncle Flower when she knew that was not his real name.

My favorite part of Dumpling Days was when Pacey said 'I told you that it was Uncle Flower'. However she was wrong. It must have been a joke.

Andrew
11/5/2013 07:50:20 am

Why was Pacey teasing her sisters when she said her uncle was "Uncle Flower?"

Alec
11/5/2013 08:40:28 am

It was a joke, Andrew.

Tessa
11/5/2013 08:55:44 am

I wonder why the sisters are shy?

Ethan
11/6/2013 09:50:22 am

I think it's because they have never been to Taiwain and they didn't know how to speak the language.

Dear Mrs. Sibiskie's class,
This book sounds terrific! I think kids in my library would like to read it? Would you recommend it to them?

Norah
11/25/2013 06:35:18 am

I would recommend it to them. It might be sort of a long book, but if you read a chapter a day, they might think its interesting and they might recommend it to someone else! And, they will keep recommending it to kids all over the world,

Ethan

Today, I thought of the book when we were at Stew Leonard's. I saw some chinese take out food and I told my mom, "Could I get a fried dumpling?"

kaitlyn
11/5/2013 09:27:13 pm

I like how the author described the girls and how the act.

Ayden
11/6/2013 05:34:43 am

I asked that to ethan!

Aidan

My favorite part in Dumpling Days was when they gave food to the spirits.

Benjamin
11/7/2013 07:24:56 am

I like that Grace Lin is telling a lot of details. My favorite details are when she describes all of the characters and I can picture them in my mind.

abby

I like when Pacey is in the art class and I liked how she was making a bamboo painting but it looked like sausage and it was a big blob.

Norah
